Eid ul Adha Qurbani

Qurbani is the religious practice of sacrificing an animal in the way of Allah (swt), whose meat is then distributed among deprived communities.

Surah Al-Hajj, 22:37

“It is not their flesh or their blood that reaches Allah. Rather, it is your God-wariness (sacrificial spirit to revere & obey him) that reaches Him (& raises you close to Him)…”

The practice of Qurbani can be traced back to Prophet Ibrahim’s (as) willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail (a.s), as an act of submission to Allah’s (s.w.t) command; at the time of the great sacrifice, Allah (s.w.t) intervened to provide Ibrahim with a lamb to sacrifice instead, the Qurbani.

Qurbani was performed by the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and therefore became an obligatory practice for Hajj Pilgrims. In keeping with the practice of Qurbani, BMMT facilitates the slaughtering of goats on behalf of individuals who could not perform the Hajj but wish to gain the benefits from the Qurbani.
